ILLUMINISM
represents a small,
but significant development
in the American Watercolor Painting tradition.

The Transcendalist school of American Painting as
inspired by R.W. Emerson (1802-1882)
bears a philosophical relationship to Illuminism.
This school of painters was based
upon a philosophy emphasizing the trinity of
God, Man and Nature

Veil Painting is a style of painting based on a technique
using large transparent, fluid, layers of superimposed color
in which the movement of color supercedes the element of form.
However, it is not only a style and technique, but an enduring philosophy of painting
which harmonizes perception, reason and intuition. It is relevant not only to fine arts,
but also to filming, art therapy, lazure wall painting, education, and inner development.

Workshop Participant Comments

Dear Leszek:

For all your incredible efforts to share with us the genius of Illuminism
and help us unfold this path of painting in its deepest most earnest
essence to the practical techniques, our warmest
loving thanks and appreciation!  Julie

Thank you for sharing and demonstrating your considerable gifts
in our group over these last three years. You have unveiled the
mysteries of veiling -- to my gratitude. And yet, there remains
infinite mysteries. I hope you'll keep painting . . . and
that I can begin!
Love, Anne

"My heartfelt thanks for all that you've shared with us these past 3 years.
I feel it's been my next important work, and often the saving grace of a
difficult transitional time. I look forwad to developing it more.
With love and blessings, Pam

Thank you for the many gifts you have given me. You have opened
a whole new world of the unveiled.  I have enjoyed your humor
in this sometimes overwhelming endeavor. I will always be grateful
for sharing yourself. Love, Mary Anne

Leszek's lively paintings are characterized by their
unique sense of luminosity, space and movement,
harmonizing the inner and outer aspects of
Light, Color and Darkness.

Washing of the Feet - September 2003

Washing of the Feet is a spiritual archetype that transcends race, religion and creed.  St. Francis said "It is better to serve, than to be served."  In reality, the foundation of peace begins with an enlightened view of giving and receiving.

This exceptional style of painting,
blended with its engaging aesthetic philosophy,
continues to gain recognition world-wide.
Illuminism  is the bridge between Science and Art...

What is the Illuminism Workshop Series (IWS)?

See Workshop Section for More Details

For many years, there has been little opportunity to study Illuminism in America. This has been addressed by the development of the IWS, the Illuminism Workshop Series. This is a series of carefully planned workshops which guides participants systematically through the various stages of artistic development as relevant to this style of painting. Although the course is rich in the methodology of multi-veiled watercolor painting, its real emphasis is on inner enrichment, transforming the way we relate to our sense of sight and how we respond to the world around us. Because of its unique approach and content, this workshop series can be rewarding and challenging to all levels of participants.

To date, IWS has been conducted in 12 cities, coast-to-coast. Participants have enjoyed the rewarding opportunity to build their skills and artistic sensitivity seasonally over an extended period of time. This exceptional painting course can be conducted in the convenience of your own community. The course covers the major relevant artistic techniques, benefits, and philosophy of Illuminism as it moves through the three themes of Landscape, Floral and Figural Painting. Besides the three-part, twelve weekend seasonal series, other workshop arrangements are available.

If you are interested in learning more about this exciting opportunity to become an Illuminism Workshop Coordinator and bring IWS into your community, or if you have other inquiries as to Illuminism lectures, slide shows, introductory workshops, 2 or 3-Day Color Immersions, contact Casse Forczek, National Coordinator at 707-824-2238.

Lecture:   Color & The Foundation of the Human Soul
Art Lecture & Painting Workshop
... in your own Community

Educators and therapists are realizing that there is much to support the reasons why Art is so deeply integrated throughout the thriving Waldorf curriculum. However, the need to provide the human being with the healing and life engendering radiance of art does not begin in grade school and end at high school. The reality is that the typical aesthetically deprived post-modern parent and working adult often needs the healing forces of art more than the kids! Art and beauty support and preserve our youth forces which is key to our health, vitality and enthusiasm.

I believe that Art is synonymous with inner development and healing. Art can become the a luminous "bridge over troubled water" facilitating the much needed balance between the ever-widening dichotomy which separat es the our outer and inner lives. In our techno-informational culture, the practice of an art becomes increasingly integral to our health, wholeness and social sensitivity.
